Details
This painting portrays woodsmen interpreting the visitors' names in the ancient speech of Han, as depicted in the 'Journey to Peach Garden', written by Wang Wei of the Tang Dynasty in the form of a Chinese verse with seven characters in a line, based on Tao Yuan-Ming's poem, Story of the Peach Blossom Valley. It tells how some people left the human world to avoid a great war that raged during the Qin Dynasty and lived an ideal communal life.
With a hint of the style of Yi Han Chul, a Joseon era painting, this work is of great value since it contains the original modern painting of a peach tree garden and the original iconographies of blue-green landscape painting.
